Ethics To Be Followed In The Nursing Profession

Every profession follows a code of ethics which are needed to be followed by the practitioners

. Thus is important from the point of view of moral values, especially in the noble profession of nursing. A nurse should follow the ethics in order to practice in a fair manner.

Like every profession, nursing too has its own code of ethics. These ethics may overlap with other profession especially with those which are considered as a noble profession. A nurse should have the necessary abilities and competencies to practice as a nurse. On the academic front a nurse should pass the nursing exam which is a necessity to be eligible to do the any nursing course. The Teas exam is a popular entrance exam conducted by the ATI - Assessment Technologies Institute. It is conducted at several test centers in the US.

The Teas exam tests the competency of the candidate appearing for the test in four distinct areas. They are Math, Reading, English and Science. A candidate should score well in all the sections in order to qualify for a seat in the various prestigious nursing schools across the US. Before taking the Test of Essential Academic Skills one should examine him or herself that if she is ready or has an aptitude for the nursing profession. This job calls for an extremely caring attitude as human lives are at stake. A nurse should have a very caring attitude and should be non-judgmental. He or she should have the willingness to give emotional support apart from the proper medication so that the patient is able to recover fast. A nurse often acts a s a mediator between the doctor and the patient. It is the nurse who gets ample opportunity to interact with the sick. He or she has to follow the instructions given be the doctor and give the patient the prescribed medication. Thus, it gives the nurse to engage in a relationship with the patient where he needs to act as a friend and a confidant. Thus, it is the duty of the nurse to keep the dignity and the privacy of the sick intact,

A nurse should be able to collaborate with the other members of the medical staff honestly. A lot of responsibility lies on the shoulders of the nurse and it is an important part of the nurse to act honestly and in a fair manner. A nurse should create a holistic healing environment with his or her actions which is conducive to the speedy recovery of the patient.

Thus, apart from the academic qualification and certification a nurse should possess the above qualifications to maintain the spirit of nobility of the nursing profession and keep it intact.
