Evaluate The Function For The Given Value Of X

Introduction to evaluate the function for the given value of x:

In mathematics, function is nothing but depending on the input value, the output value to be determined. We can map the variables of the function into a coordinate system. Function is denoted in the form of y = f(x). If a function contains only one variable then it is called as one variable function. For example: f(x) = 6x + 4. Here, x is called a variable. To calculate a function, we need to substitute a given x value (domain) in the function and we get a corresponding output (range). Now, we are going to evaluate some of the functions for the given value of x.

Example Problems- Evaluate the Function for the Given Value of X:

Example problem 1:

Evaluate f(3) for the function f(x) = 10x + 3.

Solution:

The given function is f(x) = 10x + 3.

Now, we have to find the value of f(3).

Substitute the value of x = 3 in the given function

f(3) = 10(3) + 3

f(3) = 33

So, the answer is f(3) = 33.

Example problem 2:

Evaluate f(3) for the function f(x) = -5x2 + 1x + 10.

Solution:

The given function is f(x) =-5x2 + x + 10.

Now, we have to find the value of f(3).

Substitute the value of x = 3 in the given function

f(3) = -5(3)2 + (3) + 10

f(3) = -45 + 3 + 10

f(3) = -32

So, the answer is f(3) = -32.

Additional Problems- Evaluate the Function for the Given Value of X:

Example problem 3:

Evaluate f(1) for the function f(x) = -2x2 +2 x .

Solution:

The given function is f(x) =-2x2 + 2x.

Now, we have to find the value of f(1).

Substitute the value of x = 1 in the given function

f(1) = -2(1)2 + 2

f(1) = -2 + 2

f(1) = 0

So, the answer is f(1) = 0.

Example problem 4:

Find the ordered pairs of the function: f(x) = -3x + 3

Solution:

f(x)= -3x + 3

Substitute x=0

f (0) = -3(0) + 3

f(0) = 3

Therefore the ordered pair (x, f(0)) is (0, 3).

Substitute x = 1

f(1) = -3(1) + 3

f(1) = 0

Therefore the ordered pair (x, f(1)) is (1, 0).

Substitute x=2

f(2) = -3(2) + 3

f(2) = -3

Therefore the ordered pair (x, f(2)) is (2, -3).

Substitute x=3

f(3) = -3(3) + 3

f(3) = -6

Therefore the ordered pair (x, f(3)) is (3, -6).

Check this awesome profit equation i recently used.

The ordered pairs of the function f(x) = 10x + 2 is (0, 3), (1, 0), (2, -3), (3, -6).

Practice Problems- Evaluate the Function for the Given Value of X:

1) Find the value of f(2) for the function f(x) = 1x + 10. (Answer: f(2)=12).

2) Find the value of f(1) for the function f(x) = 5 - 1x .(Answer: f(1) = 4).
