Everglades Tour For My Birthday

I was taken on a surprise Everglades tour for my birthday last year when I was vacationing in Miami Beach, Florida! I love reptiles

. It makes my wife a little bit crazy but I have many reptiles for pets. I have one iguana, about 20 geckos, a Box Tortoise, and one 6 foot long Burmese Python.

I have been interested in reptiles since I was a child and I had always dreamed of taking and Everglades tour because it is one of the main Miami attractions. My birthday falls on March 2nd and during that week my wife and I were on vacation with other members of our family. We are from Tupelo, Mississippi and my wife and I, up until that point in time had never vacationed in the Sunshine State.

Someone on my wife's side of the family had planned a big group vacation to Miami Beach. As far as I know taking and Everglades tour was not on the Miami attractions and tours agenda. I even inquired to my wife about it without getting any firm answer. She was very vague when I asked her about the Everglades tour. She said if we can get enough time away from the family then maybe we would have a chance to do it but that she did not think that it was likely.

So that was a little upsetting to me but I was still very excited about seeing Miami for the first time! When we finally got down to Miami there was a pretty strict itinerary for us to follow. There was a group of about 30 of us all together so it was a pretty chaotic vacation at the Miami attractions. The whole group was booked at the Days Inn on 41st Street and Collins Avenue.

The weather was just spectacular compared to the area of Mississippi that we live in where it gets very cold this time of year. When we were given our itinerary of the activities and tours that we were going to be taking I was very disappointed to see that an Everglades tour was not on the agenda. Again I was just so happy to be in Miami Beach that I didn't let it get me to down.

We were going to do a lot of fun things like snorkeling in Key Biscayne, visiting the Seaquarium Miami attractions, and taking a guided Segway tour, amongst alot of other activities and tours. My birthday was towards the end of this vacation so I didn't have much hope of seeing the Everglades and my wife had disguised her plans like a professional spy.

She never once even alluded to taking an Everglades tour for even the briefest of seconds. Even on the night before we were to take the Miami attractions tour which was the eve of my birthday she never once hinted at or mentioned it and she even proceeded to let me drink a little more alcohol than I probably should have considering we would be waking up early the next day and taking the tour.

The next morning she had woke me up at eight o'clock and told me I had one hour to be ready for a surprise. I was very excited because this day of our itinerary was to be spent taking art allery tours in Miami which I had no interest in whatsoever.

My wife however had me thinking that I was still going to be taking the art museum tour (I thought this surprise was something else) but when I entered the Everglades tour bus with the Miami Attractions staff, the driver let everyone know where we were going. The Everglades tour was everything that I imagined it would be and more.
