The Philippines have a lot of traditions and even most of the beliefs in the country are related to its rich culture. Despite these, Filipinos are highly flexible and can easily adapt. Filipinos do not get behind on how the world around them evolves and changes.

Dating in the Philippines is said to be one of the things that have evolved with time. However, there are still many fallacies about dating and the romantic relationships between a boy and a girl in the present time. Philippines is seen as a traditional country and people from other countries think that Filipinos are still conventional about relationships and women in the Philippines are said to be passive and lack experience. Although, it is for a fact that there are people who opt to stick to the old ways, most of the Filipinos are already open about the things around them. The younger Filipino generation is a lot different from the older generations. This might be due to the availability of computers, improvement and advancement of technology, hi-tech gadgets and the influence of media.

Dating in the Philippines is not done the same way as it was done many years ago. Things evolved and Filipinos' ways of dating evolved too. Though the older people still believe that dating should be done the old customary way, they cannot prevent the wave of change to take charge on things. At the present, Filipinos try their luck of finding their love through internet or other ways brought by technology such as texting and chatting through mobile phones. Filipinos, may it be a man or a woman, are willing to widen their horizon by making friends with people from all over the world. They are even open to the thought of meeting their other half online with the hope of seeing each other in person and start a family.

Common misbelieves about dating in the Philippines are usually towards Filipinas. They are usually seen as slow learners and they are inexperienced by people from other countries. They usually think that Filipinas just remain silent for they do not have enough self-confidence and they lack knowledge.

People from other country also see dating in the Philippines a way for Filipinas to take advantage of the money and the riches of the men from other country. Although, it cannot be denied that there are really such kinds of women who just use other people for their benefit, the Philippines is not the only country where these things happen. It is sad to know that most of the time people love to put labels on the country about being a place where people love to take advantage over other people where as a matter of fact only few people does such bad deed.
