Evolution of future search engine - an idea

"Search engine"- a name with which almost every single internet user is familiar with, a technology that has changed the way of organizing data across the web, and most important is an idea that has simplified human efforts for browsing over the net.

The first milestone in search engine history was Archie. It created in 1990 by Alan Emtage, a student at McGill University in Montreal. The original intent of the name was "archives", but it was shortened to Archie. The core idea was further extended by various other search engines like Lycos, AltaVista, Yahoo with a perfection towards indexing and mining out real time records from all over the web.

In the year of 1998, Larry Page and Sergey Brin founded Google, backed by a robust and more organized algorithm with an aim of providing the best suitable search result along with fastest indexing technology till date. Since from that time, Google has ruled as the leader of search engines. The only reason behind this huge success is evolution and continuous evolution.

Today, if you are satisfied with prevailing search technology, then its time for you to think about how the digital world is changing around us. New user interfaces and mobile devices are expanding the web into all aspects of daily life, and even changing the way we think. This rapid change forces us to hunt for new horizons in search technology by increasing the usability of robotics and artificial intelligence.

In near future, we can assume that search will no longer be a simple act of typing words into text box. The time has come when artificial intelligence will take place of today's predefined search algorithm that acts in a harmonic way of executing search result. The rise of social media and data regarding user's preferences has shown a new arena for predicting the exact match what a particular user is willing to have at any certain circumstances.

Though we have a long way to go, but steps like introduction of instant, localized search result, search personalization, Google +1 and evolution of new search engines like Blekko, Wolfram alpha has bugle our journey towards reaching that point of perfection.
