Hair loss may be a result of various things such as medical conditions

, psychological compulsions or consequences of hairstyling routines. The good news for people who are suffering from hair loss is that there is now a way on how to reverse this problem. The solution is hair transplants. Hair transplants are medical procedures which are done to correct baldness or hair loss. The aim of this procedure is to replace the bald spots and make them look as natural as they were. Just like any medical procedure, this one also has its downsides. Not all hair transplants turn out right. Here are some examples of bad hair transplant.

Large Grafts

This happens when there is a noticeable difference between the hair plug's density and that of the donor's natural hair. This then may result in a seemingly off-looking patch-like appearance on the scalp of the patient.

Hairlines that are either too broad or too low

This problem may occur when the surgeon who performed the procedure made a mistake such as restoring the hairline in such a way that it appears to be too close to the crease on the upper brow. A mistake such as this could make the patients face look distorted or not proportioned.

Hair is transplanted in the wrong direction

This problem may occur when the surgeon placed the transplanted hair against the direction of the natural hair growth of the patient. This is because surgeons tend to place the grafts perpendicularly in relation to the scalp, especially when they are using large grafts. Doing so causes the transplanted hair to look unnatural.

Scarring

Even small grafts can result in large wounds in the scalp. Once this happens, the scalp is sure to have scars and these scars could be the start of the problem. Scars can bring about problems such as elevation of the grafted hair, noticeable irregularities on the scalp area and unnatural hair growth direction. These factors cause undesirable effects to the patient, resulting to the procedure being a failure.

A bad hair transplant doesn't have to stay bad. The procedure may have its downsides but many of the mistakes could be corrected.
