Excess Sweating Treatments
Hyperhidrosis is the medical term for the overproduction of sweat in various areas of the body. We'll discuss the various symptoms and causes of this condition, and some cures. You don't have to suffer unduly from embarrassing hyperhidrosis. There will likely be several avenues for excess sweating treatments you can try. Work with your doctor to develop the plan that works for you. I will also be talking about a natural sweating cure guide that I have used to get rid of my excessive sweating problem.
The main symptom of hyperhidrosis is of course an overabundance of sweat from a certain area of the body - the hands, feet, armpits and face are all common areas where this can occur. The affected areas are excessively wet and cause a lot of social awkwardness. The sweating occurs without apparent outside triggers, but it can increase with nervousness. The cause behind these wild sweat glands is generally an over-active sympathetic nervous system and/or an over-supply of the sweat glands themselves.
As mentioned above, hyperhidrosis can affect several different parts of the body, such as the face, hands, feet, and armpits (axilla). The area affected will have a bearing on the type of treatment performed. Management of this condition stems from three approaches: contain and absorb the sweat (topical antiperspirants), medical (drugs that calm down the sympathetic nervous system), and surgical disruption of the sympathetic ganglia servicing the offending area or laser or electrical disruption of the sweat glands themselves
For many milder cases of axillary hyperhidrosis, a good antiperspirant product offers a great deal of relief. These generally contain an aluminum salt, which can absorb a large volume of water. These products are available over the counter, or by prescription for more challenging cases. The prescription product has much more of the active ingredients than allowed in the OTC formulations.
There are several medications which are known to be helpful in cases of hyperhidrosis. These meds are in a class of compounds that work by countering the cholinergic (sympathetic) nervous system. This is the branch of the autonomous nervous system that stimulates sweat production, among other things.
Endoscopic sympathectomies (the interruption of the sympathetic ganglia located in the chest wall or lumbar area) are performed mainly for axillary, hand and foot sweating. This stops the nervous stimulation to the targeted sweat glands. There are also axillary suction curettage procedures which remove the sweat glands and special electrical machines which disrupt the sweat gland's function via electrical current.
If you or a loved one suffers from hyperhidrosis, there is certainly hope that it can be successfully managed. Working with your physician, you can find the excess sweating treatments that will work the best for you. It is strongly advised that one eliminates the more conservative (medical) treatment options before considering surgery. I personally managed to get rid of all my sweat problems with a step by step sweat removal guide.
