Executive Coaching Helps You Focus On Your Strengths

Do you know what your strengths and weaknesses are? It is easy to spend all your time capitalizing on your strengths. There is nothing wrong with focusing on the things you are good at.

But what about your weaknesses? Do you ignore the things you aren't good at? It is easy to spend all your time focusing on your strengths while ignoring your weaknesses. However, this method is not ideal if you are trying to achieve personal growth.

The best way to approach this is to find a balance. Focus on your strengths while improving on your weaknesses. For example, if you are a great leader but can't seem to manage your time, you can focus on your leadership while improving your time management skills.

Here are some tips that will help you do just that.

Make lists. Make two lists- one for your strengths and one for your weaknesses. List as many strengths and weaknesses as you can. Which strengths are you already using? Which weaknesses would you like to improve on?

Choose one. After you make your lists, pick one weakness to work on. Trying to improve on more than one trait at a time can be confusing. It takes a few weeks to form a new habit. That is essentially what it takes to fix a weakness.

Hire an executive coach. An executive coach can help you figure out your strengths and focus on them. They help you find balance, set goals, etc. Tell the executive coach that you want to focus on your strengths while improving on your weaknesses. They'll help you create a workable action plan.

Research. It also helps to do some research. You can read a self help book, look on the internet etc. Sometimes, a weakness may be a difficult thing to conquer. For example, if you have a tendency to overeat when stressed you may want to read a self help book on the subject.

Give it time. It may take weeks or months to correct and improve on a weakness. Be patient. Work on making changes at your own pace and you will be rewarded with lasting results.
