Life is hard. Your busy with work, kids, and maybe even school so where does exercising rank on your list of priorities? Hopefully, you understand that creating time for regular exercising is not only going to make you look and feel better but it can help your mental health by giving you time to to focus on yourself.

The easiest way to get back into the gym is to never stop going in the first place. Remember, there are always going to be highly stressful times in your life, but you need to have the strength to stay dedicated to your workouts. No matter how tired, anxious, angry, or sad you are, working out will help you overcome strong negative emotions by releasing endorphins, or feel-good hormones, into your blood stream. It is highly unlikely that after a good workout session that you won't feel better about yourself and your chaotic life.

Adopt a "just do it" attitude. Chances are if you can motivate yourself to just get into the gym, once you start you won't want to stop. If you can effectively force yourself for one month to continue the gym efforts, you will be rewarded by creating a new positive habit. Once you've established a habit, it makes it that much harder to break.


If your motivation is lacking, try recruiting a friend to help you out and join you on your path to weight loss and good health. Chances are that your friend may have been looking for someone to go to the gym with anyways. Going with a partner can be the motivating factor you need when you just wouldn't go otherwise. Knowing that another person is waiting for you can be the push you need to get up and start exercising.

Make sure that you are doing something that you enjoy. If you dread getting on the treadmill, and don't enjoy the afterglow of running then you just aren't cut out for it. There are many other ways to incorporate exercise into your life that doesn't revolve around machines. Try joining a kickboxing or step aerobics class for a fun workout that you will look forward to doing. The only way that you are going to keep up your efforts is to do something that you love to do.
