Exhibit Houston's Best Rode Show
Every year in Houston there is an event that brings out the best of Houston. This is the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo which is the largest live entertainment and livestock exhibition. This is also part of the regular season of the PRCA rodeo event, the events that you can see here is the BP Super Series which is an international championship that features some of the best cowboys in all of rodeo and the Super Shootout which is a competition between the top ten North American champions. These alone are a reason people flock to Houston Texas rentals as this is a premier event in the calender but there is more to it than just the rodeo.
There is a Rodeo Parade that has over 100 different groups, there 15 trail rides, 20 floats, 15 commercial wagons and stagecoaches Also around 15 university bands join in as well. This is a far cry from the first parade that happened in 1937. That parade had two bands that just drums and bungle corps. It was in 1952 that trail rides were introduced with the original being the Salt Grass Trail, which was formed by a few men. Now there are 13 different trail rides that each gather at the Memorial park where a camp is set up and a party like atmosphere welcomes the riders.
The Friday before the parade is 'Go Texan Day.' This is a day where they try to get the whole of Houston to where western clothing like jeans, cowboy boots and cowboy has. This is a concept that had been discussed about since 1938 but didn't come to fruition until the middle of the 1950s. Contests are held on the day these are Team Sorting, Dominoes Tournament, Horseshoe Pitching, Team Penning and Washer Pitching.
At the exhibition is the World's Championship Bar-B-Que contest, this is a cook off that was established in 1974. This is one of the popular things at the exhibition with the attendance rising into six figures for the past decade. There is a good reason for that though as the event is open to the public and there is a tents that if you can get in then you will be treated with an uncountable amount of food and drink There are over 250 teams that compete in this content every year and this is seen as the 'Hot Ticket'
Over the years many well known Music artists have performed at this exhibition ranging from various different genres of music such as legendary artists like Elvis, Jackson Five, Bob Dylan ans Willie Nelson to the modern day sensations like Taylor Swift, Justin Beiber and Black Eyed Peas just to name a few. These artists have been drawing a lot of a audiences over the years as attendance for the performances have averaged over 40,000 over the past couple of years with the highest being 74,222 for the Pesado and El Trono De Mexico performance. The average show attendance has been going up over the past decades as well with 2010 being double of the attendance in 1982. The same applies for rodeo figures showing that this show has been keeping with the times and getting more popular as the years have flown by.
