The second misconception I want to expel is the idea that the sugar in fruit affects your body in the same way sugar in donuts and other sweets does. I intend to make it so if you hear this false belief you know better than to believe it. The final false fitness belief I want to explain away is the idea that women can build a lot of muscle mass. Some people may be surprised to know that this is actually not possible.
People usually think they can achieve spot reduction if they perform a curtain exercise for a really high number of reps but exercising in this way will not cause you to burn fat around the muscle group you are working. I suspect people may the assumption that they are burning fat if they exercise in this way because they can actually feel a burning sensation when they do it. This burning feeling is the accumulation of lactic acid in the muscle. The purpose of lactic acid is to provide energy at a rapid pace so the muscle can still perform a movement. Lactic acid is needed when stored energy has been depleted. Weight loss occurs relatively evenly throughout the body because what triggers weight loss is the release of what are called ketone bodies from the liver and into the blood stream. These ketone bodies are what cause the breakdown of fat and since they are released throughout the body they break down fat evenly.
The second misconception to address is the one that suggests all sugar reacts with your body the same way which is definitely not the case. Fructose is a healthy sugar found in fruit and doesn"t cause a sharp increase in your blood sugar levels like the sugar in sweets or junk food does. The sugar in sweets is called sucrose and does cause a sharp increase in blood sugar levels.
The final misconception to touch on is one that suggests women can build a lot of muscle mass which they cannot because they don"t produce enough male hormones also called androgen hormones. The women who do increase their muscle mass to a degree that rivals that of men do so with the help of anabolic steroids. If you"ve seen a large female body builder or heard of a female power lifter bench pressing over 300 pounds chances are they are on steroids.
I also wanted to briefly mention using an online exercise program because it just may be the best way to get instruction from a certified personal fitness trainer for a number of reasons.
