Nairobi National Museum has now a total of 13galleries which are exhibition provisions both for permanent and temporary exhibitions. The permanent galleries are namely; the cradle of mankind, the Hall of Kenya, the Cycle of Life and the Great Hall Mammals. The Hall of Kenya highlights Kenya's national heritage and also reflects on the three pillars that characterize our heritage. They are culture, nature and history. The Great Hall of Mammals reflects on the evolutionary history and relations of mammals with focus on their divergence and how they developed. Nairobi National Museum has one excellent permanent exhibition and that's the Cradle of mankind. It reveals the gradual change in hominids from a period dating back several millions years ago. You will also get to see how the earlier man looked like and some of the tools he used. There is also the Cycle of Life that reveals how different communities have passed major phases of life right from birth, rites of passage, marriage and death. Phases include childhood, youth, adulthood and ancestry. This offers the visitor great comparison on how the ancestral man conducted his life compared to today.
