Explaining The Bad Breath And Tongue Connection

Within the mouth, the tongue has a great deal of responsibilities

. It, as well as the teeth, are associated with how we deal with the food in the mouth. As food goes into the mouth, the tongue controls the food for chewing and contributes in breaking the food into smaller elements. Having the capability to taste the foods we enjoy or speak with someone is also a result of the tongue. The tongue can be considered middleman between the teeth and the gums so it is an essential organ.

Considering the beneficial things the tongue is involved with, it's unfortunate that it has the distinction of being the leading cause of bad breath there is. It's not the sole cause why people have halitosis but it is the one which most people connect as the reason. It should not come as big shock concerning the affiliation of bad breath and the tongue mainly because that the tongue comes in contact with food everyday.

With the tongue being continually in contact with so many different items to eat, how can we not have bad breath. It's linked to every activity that occurs in the mouth and is basically a fingertip of the mouth, coming in contact with everything that touches it. Because of the things the tongue comes in contact with, it stands to reason that the breath would be lousy. And anything that touches the tongue leaves some type of particles imbedded in it's grooves. Throughout the day, all of the foods and anything else you've eaten will eventually produce a major breath problem if you don't find a solution.

The main reason behind bad breath as it relates to the tongue is germs feeding on whatever food particles stay on it and over a period of time you will notice proof of bacterial activity. If eventually you observe that your tongue is white, this is a situation described as "white tongue" and it's a result of germs secreting waste material from the food embedded on it.

Daily maintenance of the tongue is just as important for a fresh mouth as cleaning the gums and teeth. And while saliva does help, the task of properly cleaning of the tongue rests on us. If you can brush away food particles with your toothbrush before bacteria can begin eating on it is most beneficial, but when this is not possible, then you can do away with bad breath by brushing away the bacterial waste on the tongue.

The significance of the tongue cannot be overstated. It does numerous duties and each one of them is important for our survival. We now have a clearer understanding of the relationship between bad breath and the tongue.
