This incredible Norman Castle has everything from a moat to a draw bridge and the turrets and towers make it feel like you have taken a trip back to simpler times. There are several different exhibits throughout the castle all of which help increase the authenticity of the experience and with a fun treasure hunt for the kids this is one that the whole family will enjoy.

The beautiful Dicky Beach contains another historical component on the Sunshine Coast. Here you will find an amazing relic, the steamship SS Dicky, washed ashore by a cylcone in the year 1893. You have to see it in person as it is an incredible thing to view.

Taking a ride on the Valley Rattler is another way to explore the history of the region. It provides a ride on an old steam engine all throughout the Mary River Valley, stopping at different points such as Gimpie, an old mining town that was active for over 50 years. Plus you will get to stop at some antiquated train stations in order to provide a feel for that time long ago. Great fun for all the family, there are tours both in the mornings and in the afternoons.


Your historical tour of the Sunshine Coast must include a stop by the Landsborough Shire Council Chambers which was designed by famous architect Walter Carey Voller in 1924 and was constructed by local timbers in 1988.
