History has it that a social reformer and freedom fighter founded this Ganpati Temple. He was supported by a local sweet-maker named Shreemant Dagadusheh in its initiation.

Tulsibaug

The place gets its name Tulsibaug from the time of Peshwa Balaji Baji Rao. The name signifies Tulsi means basil and Baug means garden. The tall shikhara of the Tulsibaug Temple, built by the Peshwa is an important landmark in Budhwar Peth. At the time, the temple was built and managed by Naro Appaji and the complex stood on an acre of land. The main temple here is of Lord Ram while the other two smaller stone ones are of Lord Ganpati and Lord Shiva. The courtyard within the temple premises today is a bustling shopping hub. Tulsibaug resembles an old fashioned bazaar and the crowded lane that has womens costume jewellery and knick-knacks, household items and clothes. The area is a riot of color and bargaining.

Pune Okaryama Friendship Garden

The garden represents the culture and intricate composition of fire, harmony, line, spirit, world and water. The garden is also known as the Pu La Deshpande garden named after the great Marathi writer Purshottam Lakshman Deshpande. In his novel Puva Rang he wrote about Japanese gardens, hence it was a befitting tribute to name the garden after him.

Vishram Baug Wada

This mansion is located near Tulsibaug which was built by Peshwa Baji Rao. Even today the wada built for his relaxation and entertainment has a large dancing hall, artifacts, chandeliers and vases belonging to the Peshwas. The three storeyed mansions with its carved woodwork balcony and entrance, teak columns are reminiscent of a glorious era.
