When starting your adventure of the beautiful Southwest Coastal Path
, the small fishing town of Padstow is a great place to start. It is a picturesque village located on the North Cornwall coast. When you enter Padstow, you will be greeted by the colourful pastel-washed medieval houses that align the harbour making this one of the most popular locations in North Cornwall. This scenic and beautiful town is full of lovely accommodations and activities galore. If want to come to Padstow to relax, you can sit by the dock of the bay and watch the flow of harbour life or spend the days lying on the beaches of Harbour Cove. If you want to adventure out, Padstow has plenty of activities to keep you busy like fishing, cycling, walking, surfing, golfing and sailing. Exploring the Camel Trail and South West Coastal Path are a big attraction for the adventurous in Padstow.

This is the perfect locale to begin your walking adventure of the South West Coastal Path.
This section of The Southwest Coastal Path is 14 miles long and is beautiful with low cliffs and gorgeous views of the beaches below. As you begin the path out of Padstow, you will pass the soft, sandy beach of Hawkers Cove. The Path will become less sandy and more rocky and narrow as you reach Constantine Bay. You can stop here and have a picnic along the golden sandy beaches. As you continue your walk on the path, you will reach one of Corwalls most scenic headlands, Trevose Head where you will have breathtaking views of the beaches and bay. There are many historical sites along the path to explore so its a good idea to take along a guide book so you dont miss anything along the way. Also, near Trevone you may want to explore Round Hole, which is a collapsed sea cave. At the end of your walk, you will reach Portcothan where you can sit and rest among the dunes of this beautiful beach before heading back.
