St. Lucia is an ideal spot for diving. The island is right at the peak of an underwater

volcano where any diver whether a beginner or experienced can enjoy the fantastic selection of coral and wide variety of marine life such as nurse sharks, turtles and seahorses. Furthermore, a growing number of artificial reefs have developed in and around the sunken ships which have become hubs for coral and sponges to grow freely all over and around the ships.

There are wide ranges of different diving sites that are just off the coast of St. Lucia, ranging from easy to difficult. Keyhole Pinnacles contains 4 seamounts which rise from steep depths to within a few feet of the surface. Supermans flight, is a fantastic drift dive site where you can move along a gentle wall which drops to 1,600 feet. At the bottom of Gros Piton the Coral Gardens come up from a depth of 15 to 50 feet. Furthermore, a number of sunken ships allow divers to truly explore the underwater world surrounding St. Lucia. For those more experienced divers, the southern part of St. Lucia, the Wawinette freighter is over 90 feet below the surface. The strong current makes diving extremely difficult, however if you move further up the coast off Castries, there is a much easier shipwreck dive in just 20 feet of water.
