Asia is full of stunning destinations: from touristy Thailand to cultural China there is a huge variety of amazing things to see and do. One place that should not be missed is Vietnam. This up and coming country is full of great sites, buzzing cities, sobering history and, most importantly, the best soup you will ever taste. The cheapest flights to Vietnam are likely to take you to Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon) where you can begin your exploration of this stunning country.

Ho Chi Minh City, much like Hanoi in the north, is an incredibly busy city. Mopeds buzz everywhere making crossing the street somewhat of a sport, while street vendors hawk products including delicious baguettes which give a distinctly Asian take on the French classic. To get some history head to the War Remnants Museum: here you will get an introduction to the horrors of the Vietnam War from the Vietnamese perspective.

Another must see site is Ha Long Bay. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a bay full of over 3,000 limestone islands which tower above the water. Take a boat tour to see these beautiful sites and enjoy the warm waters by going for a swim or a kayak. Above all be sure to bring your camera, as this beautiful bay contains scenery that will wow your friends and family when they see the pictures.

These sites are stunning, but the best part of Vietnam can be found in a bowl, a soup bowl. Ph is a distinctive Vietnamese rice noodle soup with beef or chicken broth. It is a stunningly simple dish, but is crafted to absolute perfection in road-side eateries. While on your travels of this beautiful country be sure to take in these great sites, and don't forget about the soup.
