In 19th century, a ship wreck event named as Viper was conducted at a place and that place was then named as Viper Island. It is prominent for historical importance and memories of Indian martyrs. Yeratta, Kalighat, Uttara and Parangara are the main places which have mangrove creeks. Saltwater crocodiles are only found in these islands.
