Exploring Doha, The Capital City Of Qatar

The capital city of Qatar, Doha is a place developing and transforming from one day to another

. New constructions frequently and Doha is aiming at becoming one of the most important cities in the Middle East.

If you want to explore the place's historical heritage there is no better way to do it than by paying a visit to the Museum of Islamic Arts. You will find it not far away from the city port in a building that offers shelter to many artifacts brought here from three continents: Africa, Asia, and Europe. Another important museum, Qatar National Museum, is located inside the old royal palace so exploring its exhibits means that you will get the great chance of visiting the residence of the famous Sheikhs. Check ahead though to see if they finished renovating the museum as it has been closed in order to be revamped.

Take a walk around Doha and explore other important sites, such as the Al Koot Fort erected towards the end on the 19th century when the Ottoman rule was still present. Unfortunately you will not be able to step inside, but you will be able to take some stunning pictures of the place. The Clock Tower is another site to see in Doha; the Arabic numerals are the main attractions, but the fact that you can take in the views when inside the tower is another reason to climb the hill it is located on.

Do not forget to explore the market district and see the famous Souq Waqif. Now renovated, it still features maze like streets on which you can easily get lost while trying to find your way around. Here you will find exotic spices, clothing, and even falcons. After strolling the souq's streets, relax in one of the many restaurants and enjoy a Sheesha.


Al-Corniche, the well known promenade in Doha, will allow you to watch the Palm Tree Island from afar and take in the city skyline. Locals love to spend their free time walking along the Al Corniche. Others prefer rollerblading, jogging, or cycling. The best times to take in the views without a crowd are Friday mornings when the place is not that crowded.

When traveling with kids you can take them to the zoo where many animals, including the Oryx considered the national symbol, is housed. A very exciting place in Doha is Rumeila Park located on Al Corniche which offering a wide array of fun activities. Here you will find an art gallery, a play area for kids, a half pipe arena for skateboarding and rollerblading and an open air theater.

Take your kids to Aladdin's Kingdom, the famous entertainment park, for plenty of attractions aimed at younger visitors and adults alike. For the go karts you will need a driving license, but you do not need anything for the roller coaster or dodgem cars.
