To help couples travel with confidence, Marriott International, Inc., one of the worlds leading lodging companies, has created a few gay travel tips to make your first experience traveling with a same-sex partner as comfortable as your 50th.

Check gay travel blogs to find out what others in the community have to say about the destination. They may have great advice on gay-friendly restaurants, bars, neighborhoods, etc.

Be aware of the cultures general acceptance of homosexuality. Some countries are more conservative than others and may have laws prohibiting same-sex relationships. Before traveling outside the United States, make sure you understand what the areas laws and attitudes are toward gays and lesbians.

If youre unsure about which neighborhoods to stay in, which tours to take or what the social mores are of the city youre visiting, consult a travel agent who specializes in gay travel or scour your local book store for a gay travel guide that focuses on your destination of choice.

Before you arrive, look for online versions of the areas gay-friendly publications. This will give you insight into the citys top gay travel destinations and where you can find restaurants, bars, shops and attractions that are popular within the community.
