Exploring The Various Aspects Of Sonic Games
Sonic games have been ruling the gaming world for over 18 years now and still their
appeal is as fresh as it was when they were launched for the first time in 1991. While many aspects of the game have remained unchanged over the years there are features that have undergone significant changes. These basically include the use of more elegant and attractive graphics, the growing up of Sonic the Hedgehog as will as improvement in his various abilities and most importantly the fact that his enemies have grown to become much superior and more violent.
Since its origin, Sonic the Hedgehog has been depicted as a colorful, family friendly, side scrolling hero. The games have always started with the scene of blue skies, striped green grass, loopty-loops in the background and numerous rings. Initially, the Sonic games also featured halfway markers, from where the game would commence if sonic died after crossing these points. The earlier versions also featured the evil henchmen which were unwillingly maneuvered by the animals held as prisoners by Dr. Robotnik.
The main aim of the Sonic games has always been to complete each stage, which become much longer and complex as the game progresses, in the least possible time. All through the game, the players also have to help Sonic amass as many rings as they can and free the greatest number of prisoners by defeating the robots. In addition, the players also have to help Sonic the Hedgehog jump across obstacles, quickly pass through boosts, and consume the power ups to reach the final stage without loosing life. In view of all the above things it is not wrong to say that speed has been one of the major guiding factors of all the games of Sonic.
As far as the characterization of the games is concerned, Sonic the Hedgehog has always been seen with a companion. Be it Tails, who glides with the help of his tails, or Knuckles, flies like superman or even Cream the bunny, who glides by flipping its ears, there always has been someone to assist Sonic in all Sonic games.
Sega has released numerous Sonic games over the years, some of which were good and some not so good. Irrespective of that the never ending demand for these games has ensured that the cute blue superhero named Sonic the Hedgehog can continue entertaining players for many years to come.
