Combining the best of British with a desirable location off the coast of sunny France, Jersey lures many British holidaymakers each year who are keen to explore its unspoilt natural beauty. There's more to Jersey than just its gorgeous landscape, however, and it won't be long before you unearth some of the island's celebrated historical architecture. Some monoliths, such as the Neolithic Dolmen standing stones, are older than the pyramids, while Jersey's more recent history can also be explored by visiting the German occupation fortifications from the Second World War. Visiting some of Jersey's most famous landmarks, such as the 14th century Grosnez castle, can also offer stunning views of neighbouring Guernsey and Sark.

Jersey is the largest of the Channel Islands, but it's still relatively easy to get between destinations on foot after stepping off your flights to Jersey - including the biggest towns such as St Aubin and Saint Helier on the island's south coast.

St Aubin is Jersey's oldest port and still prospers today as a bustling seaside resort, while the larger Saint Helier offers many modern conveniences for visitors, including excellent shopping in its pedestrianised centre. The often-confusing one way system of the rest of the city means walking can be the most convenient way to get around, and you'll also find many affordable places to sleep and rest after a day spent exploring the picturesque island.

If you're interested in exploring Jersey's colourful history further, there are several fascinating museums in Saint Helier dedicated to various aspects of its storied past, including the Maritime Museum and the Occupation Museum depending on your period of interest.
