An extractor fan consists of the three main components: a panel to extract the gases, filters and a fan for ventilation. The invention of such variety of fans was in the mid of the 20th century. There are mainly two types of extractor fans: axial fans and centrifugal fans. The second type of fan that is centrifugal fans are more powerful than the axial fans as they can move the air at longer distances compared to axial fans.

An extractor fan is used at home, basically in kitchens in order to get rid of the moisture, smell and heat that occur due to the cooking of food. This particular fan extracts the heat and moisture through the panel and filters the air and through ventilation the filtered air comes in and the hot air and moisture goes out. This fan helps in keeping the kitchen cool and moist free and in the kitchen the food remains fresh for a longer period of time.

After using the extractor fan for a long time period you need to clean the fan because at an interval of time it needs cleaning as dust particles remain in the filters. To clean an extractor fan is not a typical job you can clean it at your home also. You just need to dismantle the parts of your fan and clean the fan. The filter cover should be washed in hot water with soap and these filters are to be replaced in every three to six months.

One of the most important thing is that the extractor fan should always vent to the outside of the house not into any wall or ceiling because the moisture in the air can cause damage to the infrastructure of the house.
