Dry skin can cause an uncomfortable feeling and is usually unattractive

, thus people with dry skin our looking for solutions to their problem. Dry skin is typically not a serious health problem, however it changes healthy skin cells into withered cells and often produces wrinkles. Some people have skin disorders categorized as ichtyosis which are severe dry skin conditions that are usually due to heredity.

Dry skin is best alleviated through routine use of good organic moisturizers or emollients. Lotions are usually not very effective because they contain alcohols and actually result in drier skin. Because many man made chemicals have a tendency to irritate the skin and often cause further dying, we recommend that you use certified organic moisturizers or moisturizers that you have made at home, using organically grown ingredients.

Causes:

Dry skin is also caused by a deficiency in Vitamin A, Vitamin B and Vitamin E in the body. Intake of plenty of fruit juices, a diet consisting of leafy vegetables, and lots of water can help reduce this problem.

Other causes for dry skin are often extreme climatic conditions, wind, and sunburn. The outer layer of the skin has an oily layer that is sometimes not retained properly because of these conditions. Also, the body is unable to produce the requisite amount of water and oil as is needed by the body. This causes the skin to dry and look dull, flaky, and lifeless. It is advised to use a humidifier while staying in a room with a heater for a long time.

Sometimes skin dryness can be a sign of too much exposure to the sun, to cosmetics, or other chemicals. Harsh soaps can strip oils, as can vitamin deficiencies. Some people deal with skin conditions - for instance eczema - that cause the skin to dry out, while other times it can be caused by certain drugs you may be taking.

Drinking plenty of water each day probably sounds simple, but it really can help with dry skin problems. When your body gets dehydrated, it will take water where it can find it, often at the expense of your skin! So drinking plenty of water every single day can help you make sure that your skin stays as hydrated as possible.

Always avoid warm or hot baths. Such baths drives away the essential nutrients found on the epidermis. Some of these micro nutrients are essential in maintaining lubrication, moisture, elasticity and the over all balance of the skin layers. As a precaution, natural moisturizing substances bath gels and never use soaps.

Cold-pressed olive oil works as an emollient, which means it soothes and softens. It helps the itching of eczema, which is a itchy skin condition characterized by oozing lesions. Eczema is sometimes associated with dry skin but not always. Olive oil can also be used on the scalp as a remedy for extremely dry skin and hair. Not only can olive oil be used externally, it is also an internal remedy for dry skin, along with other healthy oils. If you suffer from dry skin, try adding some heathful oils to your diet. It doesn't take a lot, as oils are very high in calories.
