The windows to the soul, that's what most of us consider our eyes to be

. Over time many of us have realized that our eyes are a little droopy and they make our window look a little less sparkly as we might like it to be. For many eyelid surgery is a great way to take care of dressing up the window, and make you look years younger.

So what is eyelid surgery anyway? This type of surgery is just as it sounds; it improves the appearance of the eye area by rejuvenating the upper and lower lid. You might choose to have just one (either upper or lower) or both done. The ultimate goal is to make you look younger, more rested, and more alert. This type of procedure can do just that for you.

So how do you know if blephoraplasty, the technical name for this type of procedure, is what you want to do? Well what you need to do is look at yourself in the mirror.

Do you have and, more importantly, are bothered by loose skin around the eyes, excess fatty deposits that makes your eyes look puffy, bags, or droopy lower lids? If you do and they make you feel bad about your appearance then maybe you should consider eyelid surgery.

Once you've determined that this procedure is something you might want to pursue then you need to know if you are a good candidate for it. This type of the procedure is performed on adults, women or men, which have healthy facial muscles and tissue. You also need to have realistic goals. You aren't going to be able to completely redo what your eyes look like, but you can make them look better and younger.

When you go to your doctor he will assess if you are a good candidate. He will need a through medical history. You need to tell him about any and all medications you take regularly, it doesn't matter if it's a daily over the counter aspirin regiment your doctor needs to know it. He will also be able to determine if what you want to do is actually feasible. If what you are wanting is too much and you can't have it all then your doctor will help you find something that will be both do able and be something that you will be happy with.

Eyelid surgery, like all cosmetic procedures, should be done for you and for you alone. It's not something that you should do to please anyone else. Take your time; talk it over with your doctor so that you will have something you can be proud of.
