If you attend a good training centre that consistently delivers the right training and qualifications, then your earrings potential will be significantly higher after you have completed your vocational training course.
How much holiday do I receive?
If you are aged 14 to 16 and join a vocational training provider as part of the school curriculum, then you will receive all the usual school holidays. If you are aged between 16 and 18 and you join a vocational training provider such as Sprint Training in Sheffield on a Stepping Stones program, then you will get any bank holidays that fall during the 13 week period of your program. If you are on an Apprenticeship program, then all your holidays will be agreed between your training provider, your employer, and of course yourself!
What Hours Do I have To Work?
If you are aged 14 to 16 and join a vocational training provider as part of the school curriculum, then you attend between 9.30am and 3.30pm. If you are aged between 16 and 18 and you join a vocational training provider such as Sprint Training in Sheffield on a Stepping Stones program, then you will attend for 3 half days between 9.30am and 1.30pm. If you are on an Apprenticeship program, then on the 1 day of the week you attend the centre, your hours are between 9.30am and 4pm.
When Can I Start?
How much holiday do I receive?
If you are aged 14 to 16 and join a vocational training provider as part of the school curriculum, then you can join at any time, subject to the agreement of your school. If you are aged between 16 and 18 and you join a vocational training provider such as Sprint Training in Sheffield on a Stepping Stones program, then you can start at anytime after completing the application form and having an advice and guidance session with your Connexions worker. If you want to start an Apprenticeship program, similarly you can start at anytime, but there must be a placement for you to go into.
Will I Get Paid For Doing Vocational Training?
Young people on a Stepping Stones program can receive EMA of up to 30 per week if you are still eligible to receive it. Apprentices do receive payment which can vary slightly according to circumstances, but is usually around the National Apprenticeship wage of circa 100 per week.
