When iolite is used in jewelry this property of iolite is used in such a way that the different colors are displayed in an elegant manner to attract everyone who watches it from any angle.

As this stone is in so much demand so it is also of vital importance that where this stone is available very easily. It has been found that it is obtained in large quantities from Sri Lanka, Brazil, Myanmar and India. They are also found in the Wyoming along Laramie Range.

This gemstone also has a historical past that is it was used in ancient times also. It was used by ancient Vikings to conquer new land and it was done with the help of iolite. This stone of variant colors helped ancient people to search new lands. It was used in such a way that Vikings made lenses from the gemstone and used these lenses as polarizing filters to navigate by the sun. By using it as lens they navigated lands by using sun position.
