1. First and foremost is to be a social. Creating a genuine social network is the key to being accepted and respected among your friends and any potential leads and customers. Take time to get to know the people on your lists. Visit their pages and comment on their postings. Letting them know you are listening to them goes a long way in making that connection that you are looking for. Again, it is important to be genuine.


2. Create a Fan Page. You can have multiple fan pages that are directed to different people and interests. To be effective with your fan pages, I suggest you connect your blog through the "networked blogs" feature. This way, you can share business content without appearing to be spamming. 6. Deliver good content. In order to brand yourself and to be taken seriously, you must deliver good content. If you are perceived to just be selling, then you will lose your credibility. Make sure your readers get valuable information and they will return time and time again. You want to be seen as a leader in your industry and not a desperate sales person.
