This fuller look was primarily due to her love of her mother's baked cookies and apple pies. The Japanese influence was introduced by her lack of a mouth which, some scholars say, reflects the non-communicative nature of the submissive females in that country.

Yet, despite her appearance, she is a warm-hearted and cheerful character that has captured the hearts of millions of children. One of her best features is the fact she has evolved to meet the needs of the times. Today's version looks as good in designer clothing as she does in leather. As a result, her audience has continued to grow as well as her appeal.

This kitten character perfectly reflects elements desired in today's "real" little girls. She doesn't have a perfect body, doesn't wear heavy makeup, and is happy and cheerful regardless of the situation.
