Shillong, the capital of the state of Meghalaya

, is a hill town that is located in the north eastern side of India. This hill station is situated at a height of 1496meters above sea level. The difference about Shillong from the other hill stations is that you can opt for a helicopter ride between Guwahati and Shillong. Guwahati is also the nearest railway station that you would need to get down in to go towards Shillong. Shillong is very well connected by luxury and semi luxury buses that offer frequent services to the towns and cities nearby.

The first place that comes into mind when one talks about Shiilong is Cherrapunjee, the wettest place in all of India that receives the maximum amount of rainfall. Cherrapunjee is located 60 kms from Shillong and is connected by regular bus services from Shillong that carry visitors to and fro.
