The environment is saved from the dumping of so much sewage and from the interference of so many sewage lines and the maintenance that is required.

Many people cannot afford this upfront cost and may forget about the long term savings that they incur from using it. For these individuals, it is a savings all around.

Compost

Getting rid of the waste is not an issue with composting toilets as one might think. The end result is compost that has been divided into liquid and solid compost. A person may have to check local regulations concerning using liquid compost as fertilizer however the solid compost is like humus that feeds the ground gradually with the nutrients that it needs.

Sanitation

There might be a concern with the odor of these toilets, but that is in fact less of a problem than with conventional toilets because of the air and temperature control built into the devices. Also, there is virtually no clogging unless it has been overloaded. Since these composting toilets take very large capacities of waste, it is difficult to overload them.
