Mercedes 6.2-liter engine came in third in a strong showing for the International

This is Volkwagen's second consecutive year to win. Its winning engine can produce 178 horsepower due to a combination of forced induction that uses a supercharger and a turbocharger. But when it came to the Best Performance Engine, Mercedes took first easily for the AMG 6.2 liter normally aspirated V8 used in their "63" cars with a score of 220. The number two finisher, Porsche, scored 125. In the Best New Engine category, Mercedes finished fourth with its 4-liter Hybrid. First through third places were captured, respectively by Fiat 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo, Ferrari 4.5-liter V8, and Volkswagen 1.2-liter TSI.

For Green Engine of the Year, Mercedes placed sixth with the Diesel 2.1-liter, which is used in its C-Class and E-Class hybrids.

In the 1.4-1.8 liter engine category Mercedes was fourth with its 1.8-liter Supercharged, found in the CLC, C-Class, SLK and E-Class. Beating them out for first through third places were BMW-PAS with a 1.6-liter Turbo, Toyota Hybrid with its 1.8-liter and the Audi 1.8-liter TFSI. Mercedes pulled in second in the 2.0-liter to 2.5-liter Engine category with its 2.1-liter Diesel used in the C-Class and E-Class. Mercedes scored 185 points behind first place finisher Audi with an impressive 269 points for its 2.5-liter cylinder turbo. One of Mercedes' biggest wins was in the Above 4.0 liter Engine category. The automaker with a reputation for quality showed it here with the AMG 6.2-liter used in the AMG models C63, S63, SL63, CL63, 236 E 63, CLS 63 and ML63.

This category doubles as the Largest Displacement Engine, so Mercedes garners that as well. Its engine scored 236 points, nearly 100 more than the second place engine from Ferrari with 146 points. Ferrari placed with its 4.5-liter.
