The Fairmont Chateux Montebello is located in Montebello, Quebec. This quaint little resort town is similar to that of the other famous Canadian resort towns of Banff, Jasper and Knowlton. All of these towns have a touristic feel to them, with many local events, bars, boutiques and exquisite dining areas. As far as the eye can see down the center of town the lights and store fronts offer a picturesque postcard feel and most have a distinct Canadian touch. Surrounded by lush trees the enterance itself is barely even visible save for the huge direction sign indicating where the hotel is otherwise you may never find it. It is a massive four point structure and everything in it is as grandiose as its exterior design.

The main lobby boasts a huge stone fireplace set directly in the center and open on all sides so no matter where you decide to relax you can benefit from its warm relaxing glow. The indoor pool is the largest pool in all Canadian luxury hotels. There are 211 rooms each designed to look and feel like a log cabin the middle of the moutains. Winter activities in and around the hotel include dog sledding, caleche and snowmobile rides, nearby skiing and the ever popular snowtube sliding.

Tube sliding is one of my favorite family activities and has become a family Christmas tradition. After opening gifts, the family bundles up, hops into the car and sings Christmas carols (they have a more pop and rock tone to them these days) as we head out to one of the local ski resorts for some hot chocolate and snowtube sliding before returning to a nice Christmas dinner. Only an hour and a half drive to downtown Montreal this hidden gem has a lot to offer.
