Fairmont Launches All Inclusive Package In Cancun
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has discovered a new way to lure travellers away from the competitive all inclusive resorts in Cancun.
The high end resort, Fairmont Mayakoba Riviera Maya, is testing a new food and drink package that will allow tourists taking Cancun holidays to pay one price for their guest room, food and drink.
Similar to cruise ship packages, the guests will be able to eat and drink in the restaurant at any time of day. However, if guests want to eat at the Fairmonts high end restaurant with imported meat, seafood dishes and premium beverages, they will have to pay a surcharge and they can then eat as much as they like.
General Manager of Fairmont Mayakoba Riviera Maya, Ian Robinson, says that while he does not expect the package to be a huge success it will provides another option for cash-strapped travellers and it will continue to bring business to the hotel.
"We noticed since the recession that we're losing some ground to some of the more upscale all-inclusives, and we want our market share back," Robinson explained.
The luxury hotel is selling the new "all-inclusive" package for $429 per day for a family of four and children under the age of five will eat for free.
The package does not include the sale of wine by the bottle and there are limits on selected cocktails and glasses of wine.
"You won't get well drinks," Robinson added. "When you order vodka, you'll get Absolut."
The package is available to tourists taking Cancun holidays until 21st December 2011, but Robinson is looking to extend it through to the end of April.
Though the packages do not include any extras or activities for guests to enjoy during Cancun holidays in the Riviera Maya, he is considering adding golf at some point in the future.
He said: "The world has changed over the last two, three years in terms of how people are booking.
"Hotels that survive are the ones that adapt themselves to the shifting consumer's idiosyncrasies."
If successful, the package could be introduced to other Fairmont hotels and resorts at the beginning of next year.
Fairmont Mayakoba Riviera Maya is one of the most luxurious Cancun hotels in the Riviera Maya with an idyllic location set upon 45 acres of land surrounded by the sparkling Caribbean Sea and tropical forests.
The AAA Five Diamond resort has 401 beautifully-appointed rooms and luxury facilities including, five freshwater swimming pools, four gourmet restaurants, the Willow Stream Spa with 20 treatments rooms, the 18-hole, par-72 Greg Norman-designed El Camaleon golf course, and a full-service kids club.
