In the middle of the first century Christianity began as a Jewish sect in the eastern Mediterranean region. Over the next few decades the movement enlarged in size to emerge as the predominant religious sect within the Roman Empire. There are certain common beliefs binding followers of this faith. Jesus underwent suffering, died, was buried and then resurrected from the dead. All those who believed in him and entrusted him with the remission of their sins gained salvation. It is believed that Jesus will return to judge all humans, and grant eternal life to his followers. The message of Jesus Christ constitutes the Gospel and this message is transmitted across the globe through countless
