Newly released this year are the Monster High Doll Sets that are must-have dolls for just about any girl or collector

. These is not your ordinary Barbie dolls. These dolls are based on classic horror movies and are the daughters of monsters like Dracula, the Werewolf, Frankenstein, the Sea Monster and the Mummy.

Made by Mattel, there are 6 Monster High Dolls so far: Draculaura who of course is the daughter of Dracula, Frankie Stein who is Frankenstein's daughter, Lagoona Blue, the Sea Monster's daughter and Clawdeen Wolf who belongs to the Werewolf. Two more dolls are in a set together: the mummy's daughter, Cleo DE Nile, and the son of Medusa, Deuce Gorgon. These two are the "it" couple at the Monster High School.

Every one of the dolls have unique traits which resemble a parent: stitches for Frankie Stein, fangs and ears for Clawdeen Wolf, and fins for Lagoona Blue. Each doll comes with a pet: a Neptuna pet goldfish for Lagoona Blue, a Count Fabulous pet bat for Draculaura, a Watzit pet for Frankie Stein, a Crescent pet cat for Clawdeen, a Hissette pet snake for Cleo De Nile, and a Perseus pet rat for Deuce Gorgon.

Because the figures have small pets as friends, tiny accessories and arms that you can pull off(yes, you can pull them off; they wouldn't be a cool monster doll if they didn't!ages six and above would be the recommendation. The hands and arms are removable which makes them a cool toy and it makes it easier to dress the dolls.

The Monster High line has other exciting toys and things to play with. Mattel has designed a plush stuffed version of the Monster High Doll Set and created a website totally devoted to Monster High. It has each doll's biography, music to download, games, and 15 webisodes to view. The Monster High Website consists of more characters such as Holt Hyde and Jackson Jekyll. It is expected they will also become part of the toy line in the near future.

The novel, Monster High, was published in September 2010 and the sequel should be available in September 2011. More novels are expected in the future. In the years to come you can expect this collection to expand right along with the toy doll line.
