As fashions in todays world have dumbed down, theres nothing that will excuse the

professional woman from being fashionable, and it doesnt have to cost that proverbial arm or leg. If you follow fashion trends and try to dress accordingly, you may want to set your own trends and stay away from the fashion runways. Some claim that the economy is where the trends follow. For instance, when the economy is poor, short skirts get shorter; and when the economy is good skirts are longer.

Whether thats true or not its open for debate, but when you trust in your own instincts stick to the basics, and ignore the trends. You know the clothing youre most comfortable in, and that doesnt mean you can wear denims to work when your office demands more respectable clothing.

When you meet that prospective employer, you are judged by the way you dress and the first meeting sets the stage for your future, so dress accordingly. There are a few things that should be standard essentials for your wardrobe. For your business attire, you should have a nice business suit with either trousers or skirts. A white shirt is also advisable because it goes with everything, but make sure it fits you well.

Youll find formal shirts, skirts and trousers beneficial and you can either dress them up or down depending on the circumstances. For instance, you might wear formal items to work during the day and add a bright scarf or other jewelry to dress them up for eveningwear.

In almost every article regarding fashion you read that a little black dress is an added benefit to your wardrobe. Whether little or black will fill the bill, whenever youll be meeting with family and business acquaintances outside of work, you shouldnt wear anything risqu. Your skirt hems should fall to the knee, and avoid wearing clothing unacceptable at work. Those shorts are great for the beach, but frowned on in an office setting.

Find the fashions that will benefit your figure and are the most comfortable, especially if youll be wearing the outfit all day and into the evening. There are advantages in choosing standard colors, like black, gray, blue, brown, or beige in that you can mix and match using brighter colors.

Stick with fashions that are wrinkle-free fabrics, in lightweight wool or blends of cotton. If your torso is short and you want to conceal a bulky mid section, you should pick a suit jacket that is longer in length.

When casual Friday rolls around, relax a bit, but keep your fashion trend, and when you find you need help check out the local shops for advice for your own fashionable wardrobe.
