Dads are underappreciated, there's no denying it because few expect to get anything on Fathers Day and the number of people who celebrate this day isn't big. The celebrations aren't anywhere as big as the ones for mothers day. Neglecting fathers doesn't just end here, have you ever noticed how the funny fathers day cards are different from the funny mothers day cards? The cards for dad always take a jibe at one of his habits in a way that's sarcastic rather than funny.

If you don't plan on getting your dad a gift the least you can do is get him a nice card. There's nothing wrong with a funny card but it shouldn't be the kind of funny where you laugh at your dad, it should be the kind where you can both laugh. Of course the whole not giving dad a gift isn't right, he deserves one just as much as your mom does.

You might not have a lot of money put aside for a fathers day gift but that doesn't mean you can't get something for your dad. Affordable fathers day gifts are easier to find than affordable gifts for mom. There isn't that ridiculous pressure to buy expensive jewelry or have a ton of flowers and balloons delivered to mom, there's just him and his much simpler needs. Fathers day is a pretty much quiet holiday that no one really makes a big deal of partly because men will never admit that getting a little encouragement or some sort of acknowledgement for their paternal role is important to them but also because a lot of people have a limited idea of what gifts for dads are like.

If you're the kind who thinks that gadgets or sports are the only kinds of gifts that work for this day then you're dead wrong and if that's what's kept you from giving dad a nice gift all these years, then you need a wake-up call. Just because a bunch of magazines are telling you to buy the shiny new thing' at the electronics store for your dad, doesn't mean you just have to buy it and or you'll get arrested.

There are a million other kinds of gifts that you can give your dad without burning a hole in your wallet. Fathers day gift baskets are one of them and fruit bouquets are another. Men love anything and everything to do with food so these gifts are an excellent idea. The fruit bouquets might interest dad even more if you get him one in a race car container (although the container variety is huge and has other stuff). Always try and find new things to gift your dad instead of staring at all those ads that tell how you can't afford something for him.
