Fear: The biggest obstacle to success

When I was in MLM, I used to wonder why people do not grab the opportunity when it stares right in their faces? I used to think why I could see the opportunity very clearly but the others don't? I later realized that they do see the opportunity but they don't want to accept it because they are doubtful whether they will be successful at it. That's the real problem. It's the age-old obstacle called the Fear of Failure' that prevents them from taking action for their own good.

I heard someone say that fear is an acronym for False Evidence Appearing Real. It's more of imagination that fact. That is actually so true. Let me prove it to you. Imagine this: I lay out a plank of wood 10ft long and 3ft wide on the floor and ask you to walk across on it. Would you do it? Of course you would. Now, I take the same plank and place it 10 storey's high in between two buildings, and ask you to walk on it again. Would you do it now? Maybe yes, maybe not. But, all of a sudden, your imagination took control over your actions. You started feeling the fear of falling. It's not real, it's just imagination. This proves that imagination is more powerful than knowledge.

In network marketing, the prospect stops short because they imagine being ridiculed by their friends and family if they fail in the venture. They imagine the money that they stand to lose if they can't make it. So in order for you to be successful at recruiting, you need to direct the prospects imagination to the positive side of things. You need to show him case studies about how people just like them became successful in the business. You need to get them to see the successes and not the failures.

Always remember, those who avoid failure avoid success too. You see, just like heads and tails on a coin, success and failure are parts of life. You cannot get success without bringing failure along with it. You just have to get the prospect to understand this fundamental fact. If he does, he will come onboard, if not, don't fret. Go look for another one.

God bless
