Fear lousy weather? Live weather Doppler can help

Live weather Doppler or a weather radar or weather surveillance Doppler is a system that locates a precipitation, maps its motion and estimates the type of precipitation (whether it is snow, rain, hailstorm and so on). The weather Doppler further has the capability to forecast the future location, intensity and likely position of the precipitation.

What is a live weather Doppler?

These weather radars are called weather Dopplers because they are based on pulse-Doppler radars. Doppler arrived on his principle using sound waves. But the same principle is now being applied to radar waves to predict weather. These radars have the ability to analyze data to predict the structure of storms and other weather disturbances. The output of the data is digitally portrayed so that viewers can get an immediate and instant awareness of the weather in a zone.

In addition to the above, live weather Doppler systems have a number of features that were not available in machines of the past. One such feature is the storm tracking system, which provides users information pertaining to storms that are being tracked. The weather detector first identifies a storm based on data that has been fed into the system. The data is fairly accurate so that a cloud formation is not mistaken for a storm and so on. Once a storm is detected, the tracking system explores the speed, direction and distance covered by the storm. These systems then make a fairly accurate prediction of the time of arrival of the storm at a particular location.

How does a live weather Doppler system work?

In the latter part of the 1900's, the National Weather Service in the US installed Doppler weather radars in the country. These radars send out radio waves from an antenna. When these waves come across other objects (even dust particles), some part of the waves are reflected back to the antenna. Doppler radars convert the radio waves thus reflected into data. This in turn creates images of precipitation and calculates location of the precipitation, intensity and progression of the precipitation.

The Doppler radar consists of a computer that uses changes in frequency of the reflected waves to calculate the direction and speed of winds, raindrops and so on. This data is converted into a form that may be used by viewers to gain sufficient awareness of the weather in a particular geographical zone.

A live weather Doppler system is a great help in areas that are prone to severe and drastic weather changes. Most parts of the US are vulnerable to sudden storms, tornadoes and other weather disturbances. In such places, people can keep themselves safe and save their property from destruction through a live weather Doppler system. Since the system relays information regarding current weather, it gives users sufficient time to plan their survival strategy. It also allows people to keep track of weather in areas where their friends or family live. People who are involved in outdoor jobs and businesses too can avert disaster and avert future losses through the use of such a system.

The greatest benefit of a live weather Doppler system is that it makes weather more or less predicatble. When the weather is predictable, life too becomes predictable to a great extent.
