Feeding Birds Through Your Humming Bird Feeders
Feeding Birds Through Your Humming Bird Feeders
Congratulations on your brand new, stylishly designed humming bird feeder. For such a feeder, you probably have a plan in mind with regard to its positioning in your backyard. In this case, you need to put some food inside the feeder and it will be wise if you made the nectar syrup from scratch.
If you will be making some nectar juice, you may want to add your own element to it.
First, you need to prepare your materials and these include your humming bird feeder, measuring cups, wooden spoon, cooking pot and stove. Here, the primary ingredients are sugar and distilled water. It is important that you learn about these ingredients prior to making the nectar.
When it comes to the nectars that will be made for humming bird feeders or any oriole bird feeders, it is important that they do not deviate from the flavors of natural nectars. Actually, the nectars that you will be concocting will remain artificial and this means that the humming birds or orioles will not get as much nutrition from them. When it comes to your humming bird feeder, consider using refined sugar. In other words, you only need about one part sugar to every four parts of distilled water. Whenever possible, try not to use tap water as it may contain impurities. Do not create any nectars if these have not yet been prepared. Fill the humming bird feeder to the brim with the water after you have cleaned it. After this, pour the water out and measure it. By doing this, you will know how much nectar you can put inside the feeder. You will be able to have the measurement for the sugar once you divide this by four. The sugar should be measured with a dry measuring cup.
For the sugar and water, mix them in a cooking pot. A slow boil will work well for this. Here is where continuous stirring is advisable.
Do not place it inside the humming bird feeder if you haven't cooled it down yet. You may store cooked sugar-water mixture in the refrigerator and this may last for about two days without spoiling. What you will have here is a nectar that can be used to feed the humming birds and orioles.
