Is your dog at risk when eating?

Sometimes people treat their pet by providing the dog with food that they enjoy. Clearly their intentions are good, they want to share and give the animal what bring pleasure to themselves, but the results can sometimes be disastrous.

There are significant differences between humans and dogs. The differences are mentally and physiologically.

Starting from the obvious differences, human's weight is many times higher than that of a dog, to the anatomical and physiological and mentally differences that are less evident.

An interesting example for feeding your dog the wrong type of food is chocolate. We all like to eat chocolate. However dog eating chocolate, most likely to suffer from chocolate poisoning. Chocolate contains a substance called Theobromine. This material is similar in composition to caffeine. Dogs and cats lack the enzyme responsible for the breakdown of Theobromine in human beings. Eating chocolate by dog is causing him poisoning similar to that of caffeine overdose. The symptoms include excitement, vigorous activity, increased urination, and sometimes severe neural symptoms such as spasms. The more fine chocolate with high cocoa percentage the more difficult poisoning is expected.

Mental and physiological differences between people and dogs can be observed in other area as well.

An example of physiological different is in medication. Medications for men are not suitable for dogs and can cause serious problems and even date. Dogs are lacking the enzymes responsible for dismantling of some medicine that are used by people.

Quantities of medication consumed by men are higher than the quantities fit for dogs.

Mental differences between dogs and man are becoming obvious when looking at the behavior during teaching boys and when coming to train a dog. For example shouting at a boy when he is misbehaving can get the desirable result while it is not affective with the dog. Southing at your dog can get the dog exhibit un wanted behavior.

In sum, dogs are different from people physiologically and mentally and not everything that is good for us is also good for our loved pets. When in doubt, always consult your veterinarian.
