Feng Shui Decorating No-No's for Your Kid's Bedroom

Feng Shui Decorating No-No's for Your Kid's Bedroom

When it comes to decorating your house, the number one rule to remember is to de-clutter. Clutter impedes the flow of chi or energy through your living space. This is easy to do for your house overall, but how easy is it to de-clutter your kid's bedroom? Yet it is essential to keep your kids healthy and you sane.

When parents view a messy room, can you imagine the negative chi at that moment? A clean room is calming and allows both kids and parents to have more time to spend together.

Rather than go on about how to decorate your kid's room by using Feng Shui principles -- the possibilities are endless -- I am going to offer some rules for what to avoid when doing Feng Shui decorating for your kid's room. If you follow these general guidelines, you are on your way to creating an environment of positive energy for your child.

Rule number 1: Don't put the headboard next to the window. The window is where energy comes and goes. You don't want so much energy channeled through your child especially as they are trying to sleep.

Rule number 2: Don't place the bed in the way of the door. This would disrupt the energy flow or chi.

Rule number 3: Don't place the bed on the floor. You want clearance of about 6 inches between the floor and the bed.

Rule number 4: Avoid using metal springs. Metal produces negative energy. You want positive energy circulating about your child's room.

Rule number 5: Don't let your child have certain types of live animals in their room. These animals pollute the air in the room leading to bad chi. Some examples of the types of live animals to avoid include snakes, gerbils, and guinea pigs.

Speaking of clean air, there are two types of plants that help to purify the air. Use these plants in your kid's room bedroom to rid the air of impurities which is associated with negative energy.
