Ferocious Friday Wine Review December 7, 2012

When preparing my Ferocious Friday emails for you fellow lovers of the grape

, I find that on occasion I get lost in what inspired others to get into the love of the grape. Castello Banfi is a wine maker that fascinates me. They are a did you know when it comes to changing the grape for the better.

For instance, did you know that Castello Banfi was the first winery in the world recognized for exceptional environmental, social and ethical responsibility and leadership in customer satisfaction? Did you know that Teodolinda Banfi, who inspired the founding and naming of Banfi Vintners, earned a place in papal history by being the first lay person ever to head a popes household staff? What a woman! Or that Castello Banfi selectively harvests grapes by hand then sorts them by individual berry at the winery? Did you know that I know karate and other like words? Ha. Okay on to todays Ferocious pick. Col Di Sasso, is a 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon from Castello Banfi.

Col Di Sasso or Stoney Hill when translated is a young, intense, red ruby Cabernet Suavignon and Sangiovese blend.

Stop by the Ferocious Grape this Friday and while I wrap a few bottles of this captivating cabernet, Ill try to indulge you in a little more of the Castello wine history.
