Ferrari California: Focus On Interiors Enhancements

The Ferrari California features a new steering wheel where

, in its front section, are located the engine start button (on the left) and the new GT Manettino on the right. The audio adjustment and the voice recognition button phone are instead positioned behind the left hand spoke.

The manettino, positioned on the steering wheel, is a Ferrari figure differentiating the California from any other competitor. From a GT point of view, the California manettino features three positions instead of the five of the F430 and 599 GTB: comfort, sport and CST off. COMFORT position provides maximum safety in all conditions, particularly on loose or wet surfaces (wet or slippery road), and it is the best position for everyday driving. SPORT allows maximum performance and stability in high grip conditions and it is particularly indicated for high performance driving. In the CST OFF position the driver has absolute freedom as there is no traction or stability control.

The Instrument panel provides access to the setup menu, whose main options are: display configuration, date & time, language & unit of measure, car configuration, set TPMS (tire monitoring), service (maintenance schedule).

The handbrake in the Ferrari California consists of an electric system that activates the handbrake and it deactivates automatically when pressing the accelerator pedal with: engine on, drivers door closed, driver seat belt fastened or foot brake pedal pressed. The parking brake also works like an emergency brake and may functions also when the car is moving to avoid wheels blocking, thanks to the system communication with the ABS / EPS ECU.

The Ferrari California interior features as standard an upgraded infotainment system with the following characteristics: DVD reader, 6.5 touch screen TFT display, HDD, digital radio, Bluetooth, USB connection, voice commands, controls on the steering wheel, satellite navigator. On the California the following features can be installed as optional: noise compensation, iPod connection, rear parking camera and SDARS satellite radio.

The new GT seats featured in the Ferrari California are made in full grain leather with manual upholstery. The height of the headrest can be manually adjusted with down limit stop mechanism. The back rest structure is in magnesium alloy and can be folded forward by means of a special lever on the door side of the rear backrest panel to facilitate access to the rear bench.

The standard seats allow a system of independent adjustments for the following movement: longitudinal, seat lifter (driver side only), seat tilting (driver side only) and backrest angle inclination.
