1.Deleting all the unnecessary files is truly helpful. Storing huge amounts of information slows down the performance of the PC. Therefore, store all the information that you wont be using often in a USB flash drive. You wont put your information at stake by storing it on a USB drive.
2.Temporary files should be deleted at regular intervals to make the computer function effectively. They occupy your hard drive space and so need to be disposed of regularly. After deleting the temporary files, you have to defragment the disk. Most people just delete the temporary files and forget to defragment the disk. Defragmenting will pull out all the free space between files and make room for more files. However, it is highly recommended to analyze and then defragment so that you dont lose important information.
3.Using a proper virus scan is very essential. Your computer might be affected by viruses if you dont use a proper virus scanner. Virus not only affects the information stored in your computer but also the performance of your computer.
4.The next thing you can do is deleting, properly termed as uninstalling, any programs that you will not need. Deleting just the icon means you have deleted the shortcut while the program is still installed. To delete a program permanently, you must uninstall it. Otherwise it will be hiding somewhere in the computer and take up your hard disk space.
5.Another thing is deleting browser history. When you are surfing the Internet a lot of information like cookies, form data, browsing history, and so on is stored in your computer. Deleting the browser history regularly will improve the performance of your computer.
6.Cleaning the computer properly is also important. If dust settles inside the computer, it will slow down the computer. It easily gets in through button holes, speaker holes, and other inlets. Therefore, keep your computer in a dust-free environment. Clean the exteriors with a soft cloth to remove dust.
7.Avoid using the computer in a warm environment. Heat affects the performance of the computer just as it has an impact on peoples performance. Humans become tired in hot weather; so do computers. If you have no other option, place it on a cooler pad to reduce the impact of the heat.
8.You can get professional tech support regularly in order to take care of your computer more efficiently.
9.If you are using a laptop, take care not to spill food on the keyboard. Crumbs of food attract ants and bugs which will in turn affect the circuitry and the performance of your laptop.
