Field Test Kits Are Best Suitable For Presumptive Drug Tests
Drug tests are inevitable in forensic investigations and with the implementation
of modern test identification kits, fast and accurate results are obtained. Manufacturing companies have simplified the work of the law enforcement officers and forensic investigators by introducing drug identification kit, blood collection samples, cocaine identification swabs, narcotics identification kits, tamper guard evidence tape and much more. Narcotic drug tests can be easily performed with the help of narcotic pouches and narcotic test kits in the crime scene area or in the lab. The sophisticated equipments are suitable for field-testing substances as they are manufactured with high international standards.
In the crime scene area, narcotic drug tests are done inside a tube. The narcotic pouches consist of two or three glass ampoules sealed inside transparent pouches. This removes the hassle of measuring the chemical substances, mixing them together and dispensing the reagents. In case of one ampoule test, the ampoule is clearly visible at the bottom of the tube whereas if it's a two-ampoule test, the second ampoule is not that visible as it is hidden inside the lid. A narcotic drug test is performed by removing the lid after which a small sample of the test is placed inside the tube. The tube is tapped so that the drug falls to the bottom and settles down.
The ampoule tests are usually broken from bottom to top. The first ampoule is broken and the tube is shaken a bit so that it mixes well with the drug. Observation is done to see if there is any change in the color. In case there is a second ampoule the same procedure can be followed. This kind of a presumptive drug test is cost effective and a quick result is obtained to find out what type of an illegal substance you have found at the crime scene. The drug test kits contain different presumptive tests and a box of acid neutralizers. Boxes of Mayer's reagent, cocaine salts & base reagent and marquis reagent are accompanied by an instruction manual and carrying case. The contents inside the kits vary based on the cost and type of drug test to be done.
While performing the drug tests, correct amount of suspect material needs to be used. Make sure the measuring device is clean. The test units should be kept away from the face while the ampoules are broken. The colors should be compared where there is sufficient light and they need to be observed immediately after breaking the ampoule. The drug test units should be disposed off immediately after usage or they can stored in disposable begs which need to be safely emptied later on. During testing there are chances of the reagents getting spilt. In such cases, the surface should be flushed with water. The evidence collected from a crime scene should be carefully transferred to an evidence bag.
