Getting older is generally both a blessing and a curse

Eating a diet rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants can do much to delay the signs of aging. If you want to look young for your age and remain slim, it is a good idea to eat a diet comprised of whole natural foods. That means eating lean meat, fish, fruit, vegetables, whole grains, seeds, nuts, beans and pulses. You should avoid processed foods that contain additives, and stay away from anything that is high in sugar or fat. If you feel that your body is not getting all of the vitamins, minerals and other micronutrients it needs for optimal functioning, consider taking nutritional supplements.

Regular Exercise:


Once you reach a certain age, your metabolism will not run as quickly as it once did. This means that it's very easy to gain weight. To avoid the weight gain, it's a good idea to include regular cardiovascular exercise in your schedule. That doesn't mean you have to start running marathons. A brisk thirty minute walk at least four times a week is enough to stop weight gain. It's also prudent to include resistance work as part of your exercise regime. Resistance work will help to keep your body toned, and stop it from sagging or heading south. Furthermore, resistance work will help to keep your muscles strong. Hence you'll still be physically able to manage everything you could do when you were younger.

The Right Products:

There are dozens of different skin-care products available for purchase, and some of them are more effective than others. If you want to keep your skin youthful, it is worth paying a little extra for decent skin-care products. Look for skin-care products that contain natural ingredients. For instance, ingredients like olive oil, Shea butter, honey, vitamin E and vitamin C are especially good for the skin. Remember that your skin absorbs whatever you put onto it, and choose your products accordingly.

Avoid Sun Damage:

Keeping youthful skin is about more than just using the right products. If you want to avoid photo aging, you should protect your skin from the damaging rays of the sun. That doesn't mean you should stay indoors all summer long. All you need to do is cover any exposed areas of skin with a cream that has an SPF of at least fifteen before going outside. If you have fair skin, it's wise to pick a cream with a higher SPF.

Fun and Laughter:


Extreme stress can make a person look older very quickly. To avoid stress, it's important to include time in your schedule for fun, laughter and relaxation. Book a vacation every year, and spend your weekends doing things you enjoy. Make time for the friends and relatives you like best. Don't feel guilty about spending time on your own needs.

Enough Rest

If you make sure you get eight hours of sleep every night, you will do much to delay the signs of aging. Lack of sleep causes dark circles under the eyes. It also adds to stress. If you struggle to get eight hours of sleep each night, go to bed a little earlier. Setting your alarm clock at the same time each morning also helps to establish a regular sleeping pattern.
