Mixed martial arts have been going on forever in the history of fighting arts around the world
. Mixed martial art was illegal in nearly every state in the country in the early 1990s, but is legal in most states now. It is now an arena for serious athletes. To succeed, a fighter must acquire the skills of four separate combat sports boxing, wrestling, kick-boxing and submission grappling and combine them. As the sport of mixed martial art progresses, so does the sponsorship organizations and fighters receive. If you look at a UFC octagon it is littered with sponsors that would make any sport envious. Harley Davidson Burger King, Edge, and Bud Light are just a few high profile advertisers. Students learned to borrow moves and techniques from each other to help each other discover what the best and most useful defenses and attacks were. Of course, a student must be trained in several different forms before they are ready to compete in a match or competition. The popularity and recognition that it has received thus far shows absolutely no signs of slowing down, in fact, the sport are becoming increasingly attractive to both spectators and students of Mixed Martial Arts. The mixed martial arts community is not populated with people who are only out to participate in or witness bloody, "no holds barred" brawls. Most of the participants have decided to take on the challenge of MMA training in order to develop them spiritually and physically. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a grappling based martial art where practitioners use various choke holds, armlocks, and leglocks to submit their opponent. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, , was the first martial art that saw success in the early UFC. It is known for its extremely technical approach to ground fighting, utilizing dominant position to win the fight. Although BJJ is widely practiced for its offensive submissions that can win a fight, it is also practiced because it effectively addresses how to defend and fight when the fighter has their back on the ground, allowing the fighter to actually win while being on their back. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu's sophisticated use of positioning and leverage makes it an extremely versatile art used both for defensive and offensive purposes. Power is not a function of strength. Many times you have watched, as I have, a less muscular boxer strike a more muscular boxer with more power.
Muay Thai kickboxing is a style of kickboxing known for its devastating power and effectiveness. Unlike many other stand-up martial arts, Muay Thai kickboxing focuses on efficient powerful strikes as opposed to fancy, flashy techniques.
